Just One Man

Documentary • USA • 2025
110 Minutes
Synopsis: In 1989, award-winning activist, writer, and minister Richard Propes embarked on a 41-day, 1,086-mile journey across Indiana in his wheelchair—an odyssey he called the “Tenderness Tour.” What began as a single act of purpose has since grown into a lifelong mission, with Richard traveling more than 6,000 miles to raise awareness and funds for organizations supporting children and families in need.
Recently, Richard undertook his most physically demanding challenge yet: a new leg of the tour aimed at confronting Indiana’s staggering $155 million in medical debt. But the odds are daunting—he has never raised more than $20,000.
Just One Man is more than a portrait of one man’s determination. At its most powerful, the film steps beyond Richard’s journey to amplify the voices of those burdened by medical debt. Their stories, marked by resilience, hardship, and hope, stand alongside his, revealing a deeply human struggle that extends far beyond the miles he travels.
